How it works
Extra Innings does two things: one calendar of every men's adult baseball tournament, and a pickup board on each one where teams find players and players find teams. It's free.
Find a tournament
- Open Tournaments. Every upcoming tournament is listed by month, with its dates, city and age divisions.
- Narrow it down. Tap a Region (East, Central, West) or a League. Under More filters you can pick a state or search by name or city.
- Enter your age. Type it in Your age and tap Show. Tournaments with no division you can play in are hidden. If an organizer hasn't listed divisions yet, the tournament is marked Age not listed: check with them.
- Tap a tournament. You'll see the dates, place, entry fee, deadline and divisions, plus Official page to register with the organizer.
An orange "3 looking" badge means people are on that tournament's pickup board right now.
Sign in (no password)
You only need to sign in to post or send messages. Browsing is open to everyone.
- Tap Sign in and type your email.
- Open the email from Extra Innings and tap the link. It works once and expires after 20 minutes.
- Set up your profile. In Account, add the name shown on posts (your name or your team's), the positions you play, your age division and home state.
First time? If the email isn't in your inbox within a minute, check Spam and mark it "Not spam".
Post on a pickup board
- Open the tournament and scroll to Pickup board. It has two tabs: Need players (teams) and Need a team (players).
- Tap + Post and choose A team that needs players or A player looking for a team.
- Add the details. Pick the positions, the division, and a few words, like "Need a lefty and a catcher for the 45+ week".
- Tap Post it. It's live right away, and it closes by itself once the tournament is over.
Keep phone numbers, emails and links out of posts; share those in private messages instead. You can post up to 5 times a day.
Messages & alerts
- Message someone: tap Message on their post. It's a private conversation; your email is never shown. Once you trust each other, swap phone numbers there.
- Replies: find them under Messages in the top bar. We also email you when you get a new one.
Match alerts: who gets an email
- A team posts "need players": we email players whose positions fit: those who posted "looking for a team" on the same tournament, and those who turned on Email me when any team needs my positions in Account (for any tournament).
- A player posts "looking for a team": we email teams that already posted "need players" on the same tournament, when the positions fit. Team managers can also turn on Email me when a player posts for a tournament in my region… in Account: we then email them about players posting on any tournament in their region (East, Central or West, from their home state) who fit their age division and positions.
- Alerts go out once, when a post is created, and never to the person who posted it.
- To get alerts, set your positions, age division and home state in Account. Opt-in alerts (any tournament, or players near you) are limited to 3 a day; matches on a tournament you posted in always come through. You can turn alerts off there any time.
Spot filled? Remove your post
Go to Account (or the tournament's board), find your post and tap Mark filled / remove. Posts also close automatically after the tournament.
Report a problem
- Wrong tournament info? On the tournament page, tap Report a problem with this listing. Dates and details come from the organizer's site, so always confirm with them before paying or booking travel.
- Spam or an abusive post? Tap Report on the post. A post reported by two members is hidden until we review it.
- Anything else? Use the contact form.
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes, for players and teams.
- Are you part of MSBL, NABA, Roy Hobbs or USAB?
- No. We list their public tournaments and link back to them. Register with the organizer.
- How often is the calendar updated?
- Every week, automatically, from the organizers' own sites.
- My tournament isn't listed.
- Send it through the contact form and we'll look at adding it.
- Why didn't I get a match alert?
- Check that your positions are set in Account and match what the post asks for, and that match emails are turned on. You won't get alerts about your own posts, and alerts are only sent when a post is first created. Also look in Spam.
- Who can see my email?
- Nobody. It's only used to sign you in and send the emails you choose.
- How do I delete my account?
- Go to Account and tap Delete my account. Your posts and messages go with it.
